Microneedling

Collagen Induction Therapy (C.I.T.)

Micro needling is designed for collagen induction therapy (C.I.T.) and transdermal delivery. Which means, in layman terms, it wakes up and kick starts your own collagen and opens the doorway to deliver cutting edge ingredients into your skin cells! It is an amazing treatment for improving your skin's texture, healing old damage and reversing the aging process while at the same time, bringing a translucent glow to your skin! Not only do you get the benefits of revitalizing your own collagen and encouraging your skin to renew itself like you would in dry needling alone, but with this cutting edge procedure, you will get the added benefits of driving topical solutions to penetrate deeper into the tissue.

The treatment can be performed on all parts of the body: Face, Neck, Décolleté, Arms, Hands, Legs, Abdomen and Back.

HOW MANY MICRO-NEEDLING TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED AND WHEN DO YOU START TO SEE BENEFITS?

Typically a series of 3–6 treatments (spaced about 4-6 weeks aparts) is performed for optimal results; however, each treatment will induce some collagen remodeling and micro-needling can be used for ongoing maintenance.

HOW MANY MICRO-NEEDLING TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED AND WHEN DO YOU START TO SEE BENEFITS?

Unlike lasers, micro-needling breaks up pigment mechanically and remodels the collagen without heat. Removing heat from the equation makes for a safer, more comfortable treatment with a very low complication rate.

HOW LONG DOES A MICRO-NEEDLING TREATMENT TAKE?

Treatment time will vary depending on the surface area treated but typically will range from 20–30 minutes.  Because a topical anesthetic may be applied ahead of time plan to spend between 30–60 minutes in the office.

WHAT DO I LOOK LIKE RIGHT AFTER AND HOW MUCH DOWN TIME IS THERE?

Immediately after a micro-needling treatment, the skin can appear flushed like a light sunburn to deeper pink with pinpoint bleeding for deeper treatments. Typically any redness will resolve within 1–2 days. Make-up can be applied the next day.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?

Mild discomfort and redness are common effects. Very rarely, treatments could lead to a cold sore reactivation or other infection, formation of granulomas (small bumps under the skin), permanent color change or scarring.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE TREATMENT?

Let us know if you have a history of cold sores or warts on the targeted area.

HOW IS MICRO-NEEDLING DIFFERENT FROM LASERS?

Deeper micro-needling treatments can be uncomfortable so a topical anesthetic will typically be applied ahead of time to reduce any discomfort. More superficial treatments are well-tolerated without any anesthetic.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER THE TREATMENT?

Ice packs or cool compresses can be used to soothe the skin. Practice good sun protection and avoid abrasive topicals (Retin-A) for 7 days or AHA treatments for 2–3 days.

ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS TO HAVING THE TREATMENT DONE?

You should not have micro-needling if you have vitiligo, have an active skin infection (such as flat warts or a cold sore), or have taken isotretinoin within the past 6 months. Please notify us if you are prone to excessive/keloid scarring or have a collagen vascular disease such as lupus.
